KEVIN NICHOLSON “LASHES OUT” AT VETERANS WHO VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS. Wisconsin Republican primary candidate Kevin Nicholson was once again struggling to defend his own conservative credentials, so he stooped to a new low: he “lashed out” at veterans who vote for Democrats, questioning their “cognitive thought process” and arguing that serving in the military is fundamentally conservative.
This was not the first (or second or third) time Nicholson has faced questions about why Republican primary voters should trust a candidate who, not too long ago, voted for Democrats and has changed his story as to why.
BIPARTISAN BACKLASH AGAINST NICHOLSON. Nicholson’s comments have spurred condemnation from every corner, and a group of Republican veterans have called on him to apologize for trying to “shield himself from questions about formerly being a Democrat by citing his military service.”

Roll Call: Wisconsin’s Nicholson Questions ‘Cognitive Thought Process’ of Democratic Veterans
COMMENTS “UPEND” SENATE RACE. Nicholson’s comments make clear that he’s attempting to “politicize [his] military service.” From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
NICHOLSON NOT BACKING DOWN. All we’ll say: this isn’t something you should dig in on. From NewsTalk 1130 WISN’s Dan O’Donnell:
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson refused to apologize Friday for saying in a radio interview earlier in the week that he questioned the “cognitive thought process” of “veterans out there in the Democrat Party.”
In an exclusive interview with The Dan O’Donnell Show Friday morning, Nicholson said he would neither apologize for his prior remarks nor back down from them.
Democrats and Republican supporters of Vukmir criticized those statements, but on News/Talk 1130 WISN Friday morning, Nicholson stood by them.
