Failed Candidate John James Silent on Toxic “Junk” Health Plans That Can Deny Coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions

James — who once called health care law protecting millions of Michiganders a “monstrosity” — now silent as GOP upholds junk plans opposed by medical experts that can have “catastrophic costs” & “deny coverage based on consumers’ pre-existing health conditions

Failed Senate candidate John James had nothing to say today after Senate Republicans voted today to defend toxic junk health care plans “so skimpy that they offer no meaningful coverage” — failing a critical “litmus test for anyone who claims to support protecting people with preexisting conditions.” These junk plans are not required to cover pre-existing conditions, prescription drugs, or maternity benefits, and “generally refuse” to provide coverage to people who are pregnant or who have a history of cancer or other diagnoses, yet James has refused to stand up for the Michiganders whose health care is on the line.

“Failed Senate candidate John James’ refusal to oppose these reckless junk health plans makes it clear why he has no credibility when it comes to protecting Michiganders health care,” said DSCC spokesperson Stewart Boss. “James has said he supports President Trump ‘2000%’ and that means supporting his toxic health care agenda — even if it means exposing Michiganders to higher costs, unreliable care, and weaker protections for critical benefits like pre-existing conditions coverage and maternity care.”

In addition to refusing to oppose these junk plans, which the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association have vocally opposed, failed U.S. Senate candidate John James has called the health care law protecting Michiganders a “monstrosity” and said that he supports President Trump’s agenda “2000%.” After losing his last campaign, James tried to scrub his support for the GOP’s toxic health care agenda from the internet, but Michiganders know that he’s all in on his party’s reckless efforts to tear down their care — including protections for pre-existing conditions, maternity care, and allowing kids to stay on their parents until age 26.
