NEW DSCC VIDEO: GOP Senators Stick With Trump

New Video “Why” Highlights Republican Senators Sticking with Trump Due to Feared “Political Consequences”

After a week in which Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked the Gold Star family of Khizr and Ghazala Khan, most Americans are asking the same question as President Obama to Republican Senators: “Why are you still endorsing him?”

Today, the DSCC released a new digital video “Why” to showcase how GOP Senators from Richard Burr to John McCain to Kelly Ayotte continue to put their party and their own re-elections above the country by refusing to stand up to Donald Trump’s hate and bigotry.

“From the President, to fellow Republicans, to American voters, no one can understand why vulnerable Republican Senators continue to support Donald Trump’s hate-ridden campaign for the presidency. Unfortunately, the answer is as simple as it is cynical: there is nothing Republicans won’t do to save their own jobs, even if it means putting Trump and their party over the future of our country,” said DSCC communications director Sadie Weiner. “No matter what they do now, Republican Senators will be remembered for refusing to stand up to Donald Trump.”

The new video is a part of the DSCC’s sustained “Party of Trump” campaign that is holding vulnerable GOP Senators and candidates accountable for their continued support of Trump. It will be featured and promoted on YouTube. Earlier today, the DSCC published a new Medium post on how there is no going back for Republicans who have pledged their support for Trump during his divisive and toxic campaign.
