Before holding a single event with Georgians since buying herself a U.S. Senate seat, political mega-donor Kelly Loeffler was in Washington today for a closed-door meeting with Mitch McConnell.
Today’s meeting — which one Georgia journalist observed “carefully avoided encounters with working journalists” — comes after the botched announcement of Loeffler’s appointment sparked fury among conservative activists, threatening an “all-out Republican feud” as Georgia Republicans prepare to defend two Senate seats next year.
“As a longtime political insider and mega-donor, Kelly Loeffler’s probably used to closed-door meetings with partisan leaders like Mitch McConnell,” said DSCC spokesperson Stewart Boss. “It’s unfortunate for Georgians that Kelly Loeffler is in Washington today dodging reporters and nowhere to be found talking to actual voters in the state where she’s trying to buy herself a Senate seat.”
