A new digital ad from a Republican group calls out Senator Cory Gardner’s refusal to break with President Trump and Mitch McConnell — and Denver’s 9News confirmed that, in fact, is true.
Senator Gardner pledged to be an independent voice and ran ads in 2014 promising that “when my party is wrong, I’ll say it” — but now his decisions come down to “political calculation” and are rooted in “unbreakable” support for the president. Gardner is the most vulnerable Republican in the country, and after months of ducking press and avoiding constituents, he is underwater in the polls and facing mounting pressure from all sides as he refuses to commit to a fair trial, despite broad support from Coloradans across the political spectrum.
Gardner continues to dodge questions from reporters and still won’t tell Coloradans why he’s refusing to stand up to President Trump.
Read more about his failure to put Colorado ahead of his loyalty to McConnell and Trump.
