Rick Scott Is “Loser Of The Week”

Scott’s lost jobs, toxic algae crisis and self-serving politics dominate Florida news this weekend

It was a rough weekend for Rick Scott: along with Ron DeSantis he was named the Tampa Bay Times “Loser of the Week”, while reports, editorials and columns across the state cast a spotlight on his lost jobs, toxic algae crisis and self-serving politics. These reports add to the over 370 bad stories he’s suffered in the first 150 days of his campaign. See for yourself:

Tampa Bay Times: Loser Of The Week: Rick Scott & Ron Desantis. “In a state with more than a million Puerto Rican residents, the last thing they need is another offensive Trump tweet like the one denying the deaths of nearly 3,000 Puerto Ricans after Hurricane Maria.”

Tampa Bay Times/Miami Herald: A desperate place left far behind in Rick Scott’s economy. “In his State of the State address two years ago, Scott triumphantly told the Legislature he had ‘completely’ turned around the economy. But it’s not true.”

Orlando Sentinel: 36 Florida counties lose jobs as Rick Scott touts economic growth — report. “Nearly half of Florida’s 67 counties had fewer jobs than a decade ago, according to a 2017 report by the business-friendly Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation.”

Palm Beach Post: Editorial: Scott must answer for environmental malpractice. “This governor should not escape judgment for these past eight years. And any Floridian who cares about the environment — or simply gags from the stench of the algae blooms — should demand answers for such a putrid environmental record.”

Orlando Sentinel: Commentary: Rick Scott’s disdain for the environment means he owns algae mess plaguing the state. “There is truth, and there are lies, and Scott is lying. He has to own this slimy mess.”
