WATCH: New DSCC Digital Ad Holds Senator Joni Ernst Accountable for Dark Money Scheme

Ernst “Under the Microscope” Following Associated Press Report Exposing “Undeniable” Dark Money Ties & “Overlap That Potentially Violates the Law”

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is launching a new digital ad holding Senator Joni Ernst accountable after a damaging Associated Press report revealed her “undeniable” ties to a shady dark money group and “pretty strong evidence” of illegal activity.

Senator Ernst’s “really questionable” conduct has earned “swift condemnation” and calls from a watchdog group for an FEC investigation, as well as widespread press coverage across Iowa — including new revelations about Ernst’s “pattern of flouting” campaign finance law and the fact that her 2014 campaign “paid the largest civil penalty ever levied by the Federal Election Commission against an Iowa politician.”

“In the days since the Associated Press exposed Senator Joni Ernst’s dark money scheme breaking the rules for her own political gain, she has yet to explain her ‘undeniable’ ties to this shady outside group or respond to the serious questions that have been raised,” said DSCC spokesperson Stewart Boss. “As pressure mounts for Senator Ernst to come clean about her and her staff trying to set up this dark money group to flout campaign finance and tax laws, we’re holding her accountable for her corrupt and self-serving conduct.”
