The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is launching a new digital ad in Iowa, holding Senator Joni Ernst accountable for her “lopsided giveaway” to corporations and the wealthiest Americans. WATCH:
Two years after Senator Ernst helped jam this handout through Congress, the new ad reveals some of the worst lowlights of the law — including how it allows corporations and billionaires to pay a lower tax rate than working families, drove up taxes for Gold Star families, sent the deficit surging past $1 trillion, and laid the foundation for a lawsuit that could send health care costs soaring and end coverage protections for Iowans with pre-existing conditions.
“After Senator Joni Ernst jammed her tax scam through Congress, she took to TV to tout its ‘wonderful effects’ — but Ernst’s handout was only wonderful for the massive corporations and wealthy GOP donors who saw their tax bills drop,” said DSCC spokesperson Izzi Levy. “Meanwhile, hardworking Iowa families are left wondering why they didn’t get a raise from Senator Ernst’s corporate giveaway, and whether this law will mean the end of health care protections for Iowans with pre-existing conditions. Iowans know Ernst is responsible for this giveaway to the special interests, and they will continue to reject her toxic agenda.”
The DSCC has held Senate Republicans accountable for their reckless tax handout all week, highlighting some of the most damaging aspects of this deeply unpopular law — including its unprecedented windfall for corporations and the wealthiest Americans and subsequent surge in corporate stock buybacks, as well as its cruel tax hike for Gold Star families.
