DSCC Expands Funding For Republican Accountability Staff to Texas and Florida

On the ground communications and research staffers in 9 Senate battleground states are working to hold Republican candidates accountable and ensure voters know the truth about their disqualifying vulnerabilities.

Today the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is announcing an expansion of its on-the-ground Republican accountability programs to include funding for communications and research staff in two offensive states: Texas and Florida. The expansion will bring the DSCC’s cycle investment in this program to seven figures across 9 states, the largest investment in Republican accountability programs announced by the DSCC at this point in the cycle. The investment is made in partnership with Democratic State Parties in each state.

In addition to Texas and Florida, the DSCC is funding on the ground staffers focused on Republican accountability in Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

These state party communications and research staffers work to define Republican candidates, utilizing a variety of tactics to highlight how GOP candidates’ records, actions, votes and statements disqualify them from holding office.

“Senators Cruz and Scott’s deep unpopularity is driven by their unique vulnerabilities, their self-serving politics and their toxic policy agendas – all of which make Texas and Florida prime offensive opportunities for Senate Democrats,” said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Executive Director Christie Roberts. “Across the battlegrounds, the DSCC is making early investments to ensure voters know the truth about Republicans’ flawed candidates, and how their dangerous views and policies disqualify them from serving in the Senate.”

The DSCC previously launched an advertising campaign against Senators Cruz and Scott, highlighting how Cruz and Scott backed House Republican efforts to shut down the government, which would threaten Social Security and raise costs for working families.
