Ads will reach voters looking for information about a government shutdown and its impacts on programs like Social Security
Today the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is launching a digital advertising campaign highlighting that Senators Ted Cruz and Rick Scott are “back[ing] House GOP efforts to shut down the government” and “oppose even considering legislation to help avert an Oct. 1 shutdown.” The ads also detail how their shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs for working families.
The Google search advertisements will reach voters this weekend looking for information about Cruz, Scott, and a government shutdown as part of a five figure buy. The ads direct individuals to learn more information about Cruz and Scott’s support for a shutdown and its impacts.
In Texas, the ads will reach voters in Austin near The Texas Tribune Festival (TribFest), where Cruz will be in attendance. In Florida, the ads will reach older voters across the state.
Examples of the ads are below:
From DSCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia: “Cruz and Scott’s government shutdown would be devastating: raising costs on hardworking families and small businesses while threatening vital programs like Social Security. Instead of doing their jobs and keeping America’s government open, Cruz and Scott have once again put their petty politics over the best interests of their state – and they’ve given voters another reason to fire them in 2024.”
