In response to the Senate today voting to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court – the first ever Black woman to serve on the bench – Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chair Senator Gary Peters issued the following statement:
“The historic confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, an exceptionally qualified jurist and first African American woman to serve on the Supreme Court, underscores the stakes of this election and why we must defend Democrats’ Senate majority. At every opportunity, Republicans have waged a shameful, offensive campaign of attacks against Judge Jackson – and in a GOP Senate, she wouldn’t have even been given a hearing. Roe v. Wade, coverage for pre-existing health conditions, workers’ rights and so many other issues central to the lives of every American are all on the line, and in November voters will make their voices heard by standing with Senate Democrats.”
