In response to the news that Governor Scott and the Florida legislature have reached a budget deal – awarding millions of dollars to Scott’s pet projects and creating what the Miami Herald referred to as a “slush fund” in exchange for signing a controversial charter school bill that allows corporations to profit off children’s education – DSCC Spokesman David Bergstein issued the following statement:
“In the end, Governor Scott got exactly what he wanted out of this self-serving special session: more money for his political allies and cronies, while hardworking Floridians were forced to pay the price. If Scott decides to run for the Senate in 2018, voters will remember who is responsible for the chaos and dysfunction that descended on Tallahassee as Scott sold out Florida’s public schools in order to push through his own personal agenda.”
