“Rick Scott insider Carlos Beruff makes candidate number five in the already messy GOP Florida Senate primary. As we saw with his first-ever tweet that promised to obstruct the appointment of a new Supreme Court justice, Beruff is just as out-of-touch as the rest of the Republicans in the race, and his entry promises to make the battle for the GOP nomination even more contentious than it is now. This crowded primary of second-tier candidates is the nightmare scenario Republicans tried to avoid, and whoever eventually emerges from the divisive primary will be ill-prepared to face a candidate as strong as Patrick Murphy.”
