Heck Blocks Efforts to Keep Guns Away from Suspected Terrorists

Following the tragic attack in Orlando this weekend, the U.S. House of Representatives voted for the 12th time today on commonsense, bipartisan legislation to close the dangerous loophole that allows suspected terrorists to purchase firearms.

But once again, Congressman Joe Heck shamefully joined with his Republican colleagues and blocked the “No Fly, No Buy” bill. Heck has previously voted 11 times to block legislation to close this loophole.

“After the tragedy in Orlando, our representatives should be doing all they can to prevent gun violence in our communities, but Joe Heck once again put party politics first, and refused to even consider a bipartisan bill that would keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists.  Heck’s continued partisan obstructionism is indefensible and he owes Nevadans an explanation for his refusal to take action on commonsense gun safety measures”—DSCC spokesperson Sam Lau
