“Doesn’t Bat An Eye” When Town Hall Attendee Twice Calls Obama A “Muslim Terrorist”
Ron Johnson’s weekend town hall is getting national attention for the wrong reasons. At a Marinette town hall an attendee twice referred to President Obama as a “muslim terrorist.” You’d think the vulnerable Johnson, who faces re-election in a state Obama won twice, would at least attempt to tamp down the rhetoric and cool things off, right?
Wrong.
Huffington Post reports that “the senator didn’t bat an eye either time” choosing instead to let the over-the-top language go unchecked. The story writes that it’s the latest example of elected Republicans who have “basically tired of trying to correct those constituents who insist that the president is a Muslim, or Arab, or both.”

“By refusing to tamp down these wild accusations at his town hall meetings, Ron Johnson is tacitly endorsing the same exaggerated, inflammatory rhetoric that is driving much of Washington’s political gridlock,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC National Press Secretary. “Wisconsin deserves better than a Senator like Ron Johnson who would rather engage in over-the-top mudslinging than get things done for Wisconsin’s working families.”
