Senator Richard Burr has been a staunch defender of North Carolina’s discriminatory law, known as HB2, claiming it “does not discriminate” and that it wouldn’t hurt the North Carolina economy. Burr’s been quickly proven wrong on both of those counts, and he continues to face questions about the law that is making national headlines every day.
All of the questions must be getting to Burr, as he’s growing increasingly agitated on the issue. Burr recently called legitimate questions about HB2 and how it’s affecting North Carolina “crap” as he dodged answering. From Politico today:
Asked about the attempt by Kirk and the Democrats to take the All-Star Game away from Charlotte, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) responded: “Oh, I’m not getting into that crap. Thanks.”
“Senator Richard Burr is wrong on HB2 — and now he’s wrong to be annoyed that people are asking him about it,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “It was shameful that Burr wouldn’t disavow HB2 to begin with, and it’s even worse that he’s now refusing to answer for it. North Carolina deserves better from its Senator.”
