As Shutdown Looms, Senator Ayotte Casts Shameful Vote To Attack Women’s Health

*Similar releases will be sent today targeting Senators Burr, Johnson, McCain, Portman and Toomey

Today, Senator Ayotte joined her Republican colleagues in putting partisan political games ahead of a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions and ahead of her responsibility to keep the government funded. Despite the fact that a government shutdown is inching closer by the day, Ayotte stood firm with Republican leaders in choosing to take a vote that was doomed to fail rather than working across the aisle to ensure the government stays open past September 30.

“Senator Ayotte and her Republican Senate colleagues excel at launching partisan attacks on women’s health and driving the country to the brink of shutdowns, but it’s clear that governing responsibly isn’t high on their to-do list,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC National Press Secretary. “At this point, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Kelly Ayotte is at the center of yet another game of political football, but New Hampshire families deserve better than a Senator who wastes time attacking women’s health instead of working across the aisle to prevent a government shutdown.”
