As Richard Burr’s poll numbers plummet he’s trying a new strategy – latching on to GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Last week, Burr told WNCN that he was “delighted” in Trump’s candidacy and noted that Trump has approached issues with “common sense.”
Burr’s whole-hearted embrace of Trump begs the question – exactly which of Donald Trump’s greatest hits does Burr find most “delightful?”
- Does Senator Burr find it “delightful” that Trump derided immigrants from Mexico for “bringing crime” and being “rapists?”
- Or maybe Senator Burr finds it “delightful” that Trump attacked John McCain and mocked his service saying “he’s not a war hero” and “I like people who weren’t captured?”
- Then again, maybe it’s the way Donald Trump talks about women that Senator Burr finds “delightful?” Trump was asked about his misogynistic comments, including calling some women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” by a FOX News journalist who Trump later suggested had “blood coming out of her wherever.”
Delightful, isn’t it Senator Burr?
“Senator Burr’s enthusiastic embrace of Donald Trump is a curious and troubling way to approach plummeting poll numbers and a tough reelection,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC National Press Secretary. “Donald Trump’s comments throughout the campaign have been appalling and Burr might want to rethink falling in line with someone who can’t seem to speak without offending women, immigrants and even veterans before North Carolina voters “delight” in firing him next November.”
