As presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump makes plans to visit the Hill this week, he knows he’s walking into a Senate where he has the “support” of most of the Republican Senators on the ballot with him this election. But the big question facing Senator Ron Johnson this week is: will you meet with your party’s presidential nominee whom you’ve pledged to support?
“Ron Johnson is trying to make a big deal about meeting with Judge Merrick Garland this week, even though he stuck with the GOP’s obstructionist playbook and refused to consider his nomination to the Supreme Court,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “Will he afford the same courtesy to Donald Trump, the man he’s agreed to support for President of the United States? Given the Republican-led Senate has its lightest work load in the past 60 years, we know Johnson certainly has time available.”
