Deputy Comptroller

Department: Compliance

Job Status: Exempt

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is looking for a detail-oriented individual to join the Compliance Department. The Deputy Comptroller’s key responsibilities include:

  • Processing and posting Direct Marketing and Digital revenue and refunds
  • Ensuring that the Committee’s caging and cashiering firm adheres to contribution processing guidelines
  • Approving and posting the Compliance Assistant’s accounts payable entries
  • Approving the Compliance Assistant’s joint fundraising bank reconciliations
  • Reconciling two of the Committee’s high volume bank accounts
  • Managing and overseeing the compliance associated with multiple joint fundraising committees including:
    • Committee setup across multiple systems
    • Committee setup across multiple systems
    • Preparing and filing Federal Election Commission reports

The Deputy Comptroller also liaises with the Finance team to accurately process and record Major Donor online contributions. This individual also works closely with the Digital team to assist with contribution research and refunds. The Deputy Comptroller can expect to work on a variety of short-term, budget, and ad hoc projects as assigned.

Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Educational requirement – College degree required
  • Experience requirement – 3-5 years of political campaign and/or accounting experience required
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands

Digital Writer

The DSCC is seeking a writer for the Digital department in its Washington, D.C. office. The copywriter will be responsible for helping to develop a wide variety of content for the committee, including fundraising solicitations, advocacy emails, and website copy. They are expected to be an integral member of the online fundraising team, and to participate in the collaborative development of the committee’s online fundraising strategy.  

Responsibilities

  • Working with the senior writer and the digital team to develop a wide variety of content for the committee, including fundraising solicitations, advocacy emails, petitions, and website copy
  • Working as part of a collaborative team to develop and implement a comprehensive digital fundraising and acquisition strategy
  • Maximizing the effectiveness of the DSCC's digital fundraising, acquisition, and outreach programs
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to write abundant amounts of copy, frequently with short deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fluid, fast-paced environment. Candidates should be self-starters with the ability to take on projects and run with them.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment. Candidates must be able to bring ideas to the table and take direction well.
  • Candidates must be politically minded, with a solid knowledge of the political landscape and the 2016 Senate races.
  • Candidates must have an excellent eye for detail and proofreading.

Digital Strategist

The DSCC is seeking a creative, talented, and self-motivated individual to fill the role of Digital Strategist in its Washington, D.C. office. This individual will help the Digital program maximize its capacity for fundraising and expand its outreach to the committee’s base of Democratic supporters.   

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with maintenance of existing website and online content; creation of new content areas and interactive elements, including signup forms, donation pages, and other specialized content         
  • Helping to develop social media content and posting it on the committee's social media platforms
  • Working as part of a collaborative team to develop and implement a comprehensive digital fundraising and acquisition strategy
  • Staying abreast of current technology and digital strategy and seeking new ways to utilize new technology and strategies
  • Maximizing the effectiveness of the DSCC's digital fundraising and acquisition programs
  • Other duties as required

Required

  • Commitment to the election of Democrats to the U.S. Senate
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Superior time management, planning, troubleshooting, and communications skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other coding languages

Preferred

  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other coding languages
  • Familiarity with web-based CMS and CRM platforms (NGPVAN, Salsa, Blue State Digital, etc.)
  • Prior experience with Photoshop/Illustrator/other graphic design software
  • Experience in online video production

Graphic Designer

The DSCC is seeking a creative, talented, and self-motivated individual to fill the role of graphic designer. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating visually compelling design products for the DSCC’s digital platforms, including but not limited to DSCC.org, Facebook, Twitter, and our email programs.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying opportunities where graphic design will drive supporters to take action
  • Working in tandem with a front-end developer to build out microsites, landing pages, and interactive elements
  • Creating compelling design content for DSCC web properties, emails, and social networks
  • Staying abreast of current technology and digital strategy and seeking new ways to utilize new technology and strategies

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Online portfolio of work or a website available for review
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proven ability as a web designer with demonstrated creativity in previous work
  • Well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, or other graphic design software
  • Strong time management, planning, troubleshooting, and communications skills
  • Commitment to electing Democrats to the U.S. Senate
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other coding languages

Preferred

  • Political campaign experience
  • Advanced HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or other front-end development experience
  • Experience in online video production
