Carlos Lopez-Cantera Takes Pride In Do-Nothing Record

After a summer of bad headlines, Carlos Lopez-Cantera is still catching heat in Florida for his absentee record as Lieutenant Governor. Lopez-Cantera’s campaign launch was nothing short of disastrous after Florida outlets focused on his light schedule, highlighting that the Lieutenant Governor’s public schedule was frequently empty, and he worked just 35 hours in April and under 13 hours in May.

The questions over Lopez-Cantera’s inactivity aren’t going away, and the Lt. Governor isn’t doing himself any favors on the subject. Last week,St. Peters Blog noted that Lopez Cantera’s “daily schedule is notoriously barren, and he has not taken a high-profile role in office…” But when asked about his schedule, “Lopez-Cantera made a virtue of his relative inactivity…”

That’s right – not only is Lopez-Cantera wasting taxpayer money as he continues to serve as Florida’s absentee Lt. Governor, but now he’s bragging about it.

“Carlos Lopez-Cantera is a career politician whose sole focus is advancing his own political ambitions, so it’s not surprising that he doesn’t seem to see the problem with his absentee record,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC Communications Director. “Floridians deserve a Senator who will work full-time to put them first, not someone like Carlos Lopez-Cantera who actually prides himself on his do-nothing record.”
