Unemployment claims hit “a new pandemic low” this week as the U.S. “jobs picture shows more improvement,” providing “more evidence that the job market is strengthening.”
Jobless claims have “fallen by more than half since January” reflecting “a swift rebound in economic growth” thanks in part to “accelerated vaccines” made possible by Senate Democrats and President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. And as the United States hit a major vaccination milestone this week with half of all U.S. adults now fully vaccinated, the pace of new coronavirus infections fell by double digits for the fifth straight week –– a major step in the effort to defeat this pandemic and rebuild our economy.
“Unemployment is falling, coronavirus cases are dropping, and our economy is rebuilding thanks to Senate Democrats who delivered the shots, checks, and jobs needed to help Americans put this pandemic in our rear-view mirror,” said DSCC spokesperson Jazmin Vargas. “Voters won’t forget how Senate Democrats stood up for the American people and delivered tangible relief, while Republicans did nothing but stand in the way of our country’s recovery.”
