Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, issued the following statement congratulating Theresa Greenfield on her primary victory in Iowa:
“Theresa Greenfield’s strong victory confirms that Iowans are ready to elect a new senator who embodies the values of hard work, resilience, and a commitment to doing what’s right. Theresa’s impressive grassroots campaign and record-breaking fundraising have put this race firmly in play, and her humble roots and unwavering commitment to protecting Social Security and Medicare, expanding access to health care, fighting for farmers and rural communities, and standing up for hardworking families will continue to demonstrate a clear contrast in this race. Theresa has the momentum to flip this seat in November, and Iowans can always count on her to never forget who she’s fighting for in the Senate.”
Theresa is the candidate Republicans did not want to face in the general election: she has repeatedly outraised Senator Joni Ernst, a recent poll found a virtual tie in the race, and independent election analysts have shifted this race in Democrats’ direction because of Theresa’s campaign. As Washington Republicans prepare to spend millions of dollars in the general election trying to bail out the increasingly vulnerable and unpopular incumbent, it’s clear that Theresa is ready to go toe-to-toe with Senator Ernst and win this race.
