Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, issued the following statement on Reverend Raphael Warnock’s strong finish as the top vote getter as he advances to the upcoming runoff for the Georgia Senate special election:
“Reverend Warnock begins this runoff in a strong position because he remained true to what inspired his campaign: making sure every Georgian’s voice is heard. We know that when it comes to the issues people care about, like affordable health care, respecting the dignity of work and restoring voting rights, Reverend Warnock is that leader. We were proud to endorse Reverend Warnock in this election, and are committed to helping him win this race in January.”
Reverend Raphael Warnock’s campaign has consistentlyoutraised his Republican opponents this year. While unelected Senator Kelly Loeffler and Congressman Doug Collins were running “as far to the right as humanly possible” and alienating voters with their divisive rhetoric, Reverend Warnock laid out his positive vision for all Georgians. Reverend Warnock now enters the runoff in a strong position with a message poised to unite Georgians, while Republicans are left to pick up the pieces from their nasty and costly intraparty feud. If elected, Reverend Warnock would be the first Black Senator elected in Georgia history.
