Days After Whistleblower Reported that Johnson’s Staff Knew Special Interest Attacks on Tomah a “Total Lie,” Johnson Owes Wisconsinites Answers
The DSCC today launched a new digital ad campaign to tell the truth on the “total lie” behind attack ads that attempt to shift the blame for the Tomah VA facility away from Senator Ron Johnson.
The ads come just days after a new AP report cited a key whistleblower who said that Johnson’s staff knew the attacks – paid for by a Koch-backed group propping up the vulnerable senator – are false:
The union official who wrote that memo, Lin Ellinghuysen, told The Associated Press in an email that it is a “total lie” that Feingold received the memo when he was in the Senate…
“Senator Johnson’s staff knows these ads and their allegations are untrue,” she said.
Johnson refused to demand the special interests take down the ads, even though Johnson’s office let complaints from a whistleblower on the dangers at the Tomah VA die in the “the equivalent of a congressional black hole,” and still refuses to take responsibility. He tried to blame his shameful inaction on the lame duck session of Congress and the fact that he was doing “job interviews and stuff.”
The ads below will appear on Facebook and Twitter beginning today and link to the facts on Tomah.
“Ron Johnson’s office ignored a whistleblower and is now desperately trying to point fingers – letting an attack ad he knows is false remain on the TV,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “These ads will make clear to Wisconsin voters why Ron Johnson is ‘no friend of veterans,’ and the DSCC will continue to hold Johnson accountable for his failed leadership.”
