DSCC Releases New Digital Ad on David McCormick: “Out for Himself”

New Digital Ad Shows McCormick’s Record of Lying to Pennsylvanians and Only Looking out for Himself  

In response to Pennsylvania’s GOP Senate primary, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is launching a new digital advertisement on McCormick: “Out for Himself.” 

The spot highlights how mega-millionaire hedge fund executive McCormick is only out for himself and has a long record of lying to Pennsylvanians: McCormick lied about living in Connecticut and  being a farmer, he’s backed an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest and has a long record of selling out to China in order to enrich himself and his wealthy friends. 

The ad will reach Independent voters in Pennsylvania on YouTube.

From DSCC spokesperson Maeve Coyle: “Connecticut mega-millionaire hedge fund executive David McCormick is only out for himself and his wealthy friends. McCormick has shown Pennsylvanians why he has no place representing them in the Senate: he lied about where he lives, his background, his support for an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest, and his record of selling out to China. Pennsylvanians know McCormick can’t be trusted – that’s why they’ll reject him in November.”

What to know about David McCormick: 

• McCormick is lying to Pennsylvanians about where he lives and where he is from.
  
  
  • McCormick says he lives in Pennsylvania but “he still lives on Connecticut’s ‘Gold Coast’” in a “$16 million mansion… that features a 1,500-bottle wine cellar, an elevator and a ‘private waterfront resort’” and he flies back home to Connecticut on a private plane after campaign appearances.
    
    
  • McCormick says he “started with nothing” and called himself a “farmer,” but he is “son of a well-regarded college president” who grew up in a “sprawling hilltop residence.” At the farm, his family raised Arabian horses and collected vintage cars.
    
• McCormick sold out to China to enrich himself and his wealthy friends.
  
  
  • McCormick made his fortune by investing billions of dollars in China. As CEO of Bridgewater, McCormick increased investments in China by 108,000%, including in blacklisted Chinese companies with ties to human rights violations. 
    
    
  • McCormick invested millions in sanctioned Chinese military companies that produced stealth bombers, fighter jets, and aircraft carriers.
    
    
  • In the Bush administration, McCormick rewrote the rules and “helped open up China to U.S. investment” – and then profited from the lower investment barriers he lobbied for.
    
    
  • McCormick outsourced jobs while laying off workers in Pennsylvania and his work in the Bush administration “made offshoring jobs easier.”
    
• McCormick backed banning abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest.
  
  
  • McCormick backed an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest and praised the leaked Dobbs decision as a “huge victory.”
