The DSCC released a new TV ad in Iowa’s Senate race, “Turned Her Back,” highlighting how Senator Joni Ernst has turned her back on Iowans and sided with the corporate interests backing her campaign.
Senator Ernst voted twice against paid leave and opposed needed funding for hospitals. She supported creating “a secret ‘slush fund’ for Corporate America” that would let wealthy executives fire workers and then use taxpayer money to give themselves bonuses. Senator Ernst said she would make the special interests “squeal,” but now Washington is as broken as ever, and Ernst has changed — forgetting Iowa and selling out to the corporate special interests who fund her campaign.
The ad is the second to run in Iowa from the DSCC IE and is part of the committee’s previously announced offensive investments in key battleground states. “Make no mistake about it, Joni Ernst turned her back on Iowans. As the coronavirus spread, Ernst voted twice against paid leave, and she even opposed more relief for our hospitals. But Ernst voted for a $500 billion slush fund for corporate special interests, like those funding her campaign, which would hand CEOs control of our tax dollars even as they fire workers. Yep, Joni Ernst went to Washington and never looked back.”
