DSCC Shatters August Fundraising Record With Biggest Month in Committee History

Grassroots Donors Supporting Mission To Flip The Senate Helped DSCC Raise Nearly $27 Million, More Than Triple Previous August Fundraising Record

DSCC Entered September With $41 Million Cash On Hand

The DSCC continues to have its strongest fundraising cycle ever thanks to small-dollar donors, and will report raising $26.9 million in August and increasing our cash on hand to $41 million heading into September.

This was the committee’s best monthly fundraising haul in history and more than triple our previous monthly fundraising record for August. It is also more than double what the DSCC raised in July 2020. For comparison, the NRSC reported less than $16.4 million in the bank in their most recent filing at the end of July.

Grassroots supporters are clearly fired up to help ensure we elect a Democratic Senate:

• More than 86% of the DSCC’s fundraising in August came from grassroots donations online, on the phones, and in the mail.

• The DSCC has received more than 2.3 million individual online donations so far this cycle and the average online donation in August was $35.

• After four consecutive record-breaking days for online fundraising in mid-August, the DSCC finished the month by breaking another fundraising record: our first $1 million day online in committee history.

Thanks to our record-breaking fundraising, the DSCC increased our independent expenditure and has made historic investments in states where Democrats have successfully expanded the Senate battleground map. Over the past month, the DSCC IE began paid TV and digital communications in Arizona, Iowa, Montana, and North Carolina. The DSCC is also making seven-figure coordinated investments in South Carolina and Texas.

DSCC-backed Senate challengers are also continuing to lead the way after outraising vulnerable Republicans in 13 GOP-held seats in Q2. That fundraising strength has extended into the summer — our candidates in top battleground states have continued to announce eye-popping and record-breaking fundraising hauls in July and August:

• AK – Dr. Al Gross “brought in nearly $600,000 in July, almost double Sullivan’s haul” for the pre-primary period.

• CO – John Hickenlooper raised $2.8 million online in July, which was the best fundraising month of the campaign by far.

• GA – Jon Ossoff raised $2.9 million in July and $4.7 million in August, with tens of thousands of contributions coming from first-time donors.

• KS – Dr. Barbara Bollier raised $716,000 from 26,000 donors in the first week after the August primary.

• NC – Cal Cunningham raised $3.6 million in July, fueled by donations from over 10,000 North Carolinians.

• SC – Jaime Harrison raised $10.6 million in August — more than Senator Lindsey Graham raised in all of Q2 — and raised $1 million in 24 hours two consecutive days this week. 

• TX – MJ Hegar raised $1 million in the first week after her mid-July runoff.
