DSCC Executive Director Tom Lopach released the following statement on Senator John McCain’s announcement on Donald Trump:
“Last night, John McCain tried to abdicate any type of responsibility for Donald Trump, arguing that Trump ‘alone’ deserved to suffer the consequences for his actions. But McCain’s cynical political flip-flop today proves that the only ‘consequences’ he cares about are those impacting his 33-year political career in Washington. While Trump went after Arizona women, veterans, Gold Star families, immigrants, and even John McCain himself, McCain stood by his side and endorsed him more than 60 times. His attempts to save political face are too little, too late, and the people of Arizona will see through his desperate walk-back.”
