NEW DSCC AD: Republicans Will Do Anything To Save Their Careers

The DSCC released a new ad today highlighting how Republican Senators and Senate candidates helped build the Party of Trump that is now crashing and burning down around them. For months, as Trump fat-shamed women, called Mexicans rapists, mocked the disabled and so much more, Republican Senators and candidates stood staunchly with Trump. Now, as new footage reveals Trump bragging about sexual assault, these candidates are fearing for their political lives and are faced with two bad options – stick with Trump or attempt a half-hearted separation that will be viewed as nothing more than a desperate, last-ditch effort to save their political careers. It’s clear that Republican Senators and candidates don’t care about doing what’s right – they care about doing what’s politically expedient.

The ad, which will be running on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, features Trump’s recently revealed disturbing comments, along with Republicans’ repeated promises that they’re standing with Trump.

“Voters know political desperation when they smell it, and the Republican party reeks of it right now,” said DSCC Communications Director Sadie Weiner. “Republican Senators and candidates have stood with Trump for months and now they’re suffering the consequences of it. The time for courage has passed, and the agonized twisting and turning we’ve seen in recent days is simply too little, too late. For Republican Senators and candidates one thing is perfectly clear – they will do anything to save their political careers, and voters will reject their self-interested pandering.”
