DSCC Statement on Tax Day

Ahead of Tax Day and as Republican Senate candidates stand by Trump’s Tax Giveaways that “overwhelmingly benefited the rich and corporations,” Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Tommy Garcia issued the following statement:

“When Republicans were in charge, they used the Senate to give tax handouts to their donors, the wealthiest few and big corporations that get rich by keeping prices high – all while jeopardizing Medicare and Social Security. Republican Senate candidates have made it clear they support these wrong priorities and unpopular policies – and in 2024 voters will hold them accountable for pushing the interests of the wealthy and well-connected at the expense of hard-working Americans.”

• In Arizona → “Kari Lake… has explicitly called for preserving Trump’s tax law. ‘We agree that we don’t want Trump’s tax cuts to end,’ Lake said.” 

• In Florida → “Sen. Rick Scott, who is up for reelection in 2024, released what he called the ‘Rescue America Plan,’ one of the provisions of which is titled ‘Make the Trump tax cuts permanent.’”
