DSCC Communications Director Sadie Weiner issued the following statement following Donald Trump’s victory in tonight’s New York Presidential primary:
“Donald Trump’s commanding victory in New York tonight is just the latest bad news for vulnerable Republican Senators and Senate candidates. They’ve sat back as Trump has taken over the Republican Party with his toxic viewpoints, and now they’re faced with the strong possibility they will be sharing the ticket with one of the most divisive candidate in GOP history. To make matters worse, these Republican Senators and Senate candidates have spent months pledging to support him if he’s the party’s nominee. They can run from the GOP convention, bear hug Ted Cruz and dance around it all they want, but nothing short of a time machine will help them to distance themselves from the Republican presidential nominee in the fall and the Republican party they belong to.”
