Today, Congressman Ron DeSantis announced the endorsement of former presidential candidate Ben Carson, who’s recently been making headlines as Donald Trump’s surrogate, in the Republican Florida Senate primary. DeSantis called the endorsement “an honor” and praised Carson’s “hopeful vision for America’s future.” As DeSantis touts Carson’s endorsement, Florida voters deserve to know which of Carson’s policy positions DeSantis agrees with.
- Does DeSantis agree that problems with veterans’ healthcare were “a gift from god” and that “we don’t need a Department of Veterans Affairs?”
- How about that the Affordable Care Act is the worst thing to happen to the United States since slavery, even worse than the 9/11 terror attacks?
- Does DeSantis think that women who have abortions are like “slave owners” and that Roe v. Wade should be overturned?
- And does he agree that Donald Trump is the best remaining candidate for President?
“Congressman Ron DeSantis is trying to make a name for himself battling it out in Florida’s Republican Senate primary by attaching himself to Ben Carson,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “But Carson has a long record of offensive policy positions that are too extreme for Florida, and DeSantis must tell Florida voters whether he shares those beliefs as well.”
