Following Donald Trump’s disgusting remarks about the Gold Star family of Khizr and Ghazala Khan, vulnerable Republican Senators have either stayed silent, or offered boilerplate criticisms while maintaining their support for Trump this November. In response to their continued cowardice in the face of Trump’s boundless hate, DSCC Communications Director Sadie Weiner issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump has once again shown that his indecency knows no bounds. A man who praises Vladimir Putin but attacks American heroes like the Khan family isn’t fit to serve in any public office in America, let alone become our commander in chief. Yet it seems like there is nothing Donald Trump can do or say that will stop Republican Senators and candidates from supporting this odious man for president and putting their party before their country. Even their statements of criticism can be seen as nothing more than a slap on the wrist in light of their continued endorsement of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Republican Senators should be ashamed that they are supporting Donald Trump for President. Voters across America will remember their cowardice come November.”
