GOP Summer of Chaos Becomes the ‘Fall of Fights:’ Primaries Continue Escalating In Senate Battlegrounds

Senate Republicans have suffered through a Summer of Chaos in their primaries across the country –– but the infighting is only escalating, and the GOP is now entering a Fall of Fights.

This week alone GOP infighting intensified in three key Senate races –– with charges of domestic abuse, vicious attacks during media appearances and candidates trying to tout their relationship with Trump at their potential opponents’ expense. 

See for yourself:

• In Pennsylvania: Jeff Bartos utilized a TV appearance to continue his vicious campaign against Parnell, calling him “unelectable” — while the Parnell campaign responded by saying Bartos is an “unserious man for serious times” and called on him to end his campaign.
  
  This is the latest in a series of public attacks between Bartos and Parnell. Over the weekend, an outside super PAC supporting Bartos spent six figures on an ad attacking Parnell over domestic violence allegations.
  
  From KDKA: “With strong words from both sides at this early stage of the campaign, one can only imagine how much more negative it will be before Republicans pick their Senate nominee next May.”

• In North Carolina: Mark Walker used a radio appearance to brutally attack both his primary opponents –– suggesting that Pat McCrory’s multiple failed campaigns are going to be “very disconcerting” for the “average voter” and hypothesizing that Club for Growth’s massive spending to boost Ted Budd was “because the Trump endorsement for Mr. Budd did not push the needle like it had in some other states.”

• And in New Hampshire: Trump is escalating another potential GOP primary by boosting Don Bolduc’s campaign. Bolduc himself is now bragging that he is “talking directly” with the former president and even “thinks there is a chance he’ll endorse his candidacy”––an “unwelcome development for the Senate Republicans.”
