The five Colorado Republican Senate candidates had a debate last night, but once again what’s dominating Colorado headlines are developments on forged signatures, deceased voters, and who will actually be on the ballot come Primary Day.
Leading up to last night’s debate, it was revealed that not only was a deceased voter’s signature found on NRSC favorite Jon Keyser’s signature forms, but that the Secretary of State’s office had been informed of potential signatures issues nearly a month ago.
Neither of these developments inspired Keyser to greatly improve upon his Rubio-bot impression from the previous week. While he didn’t threaten any reporters with his giant dog, he continued to refuse to take responsibility for the forged signatures his campaign turned in and blamed the media for his struggles. He also vowed to stay in the race when asked by one of his fellow candidates, Darryl Glenn, what he would do if further investigations show he couldn’t have qualified for the ballot without forged signatures. As the Colorado Independent’s Mike Littwin noted today, “It was a bad night for Keyser, pretty much from start to finish.”
