Jobless Claims Hit New Lows Thanks To Senate Democrats & Pres. Biden’s American Rescue Plan

Every Republican Senator Voted Against The Plan That Is Already Delivering Tangible Results

U.S. jobless claims have hit “a post-COVID low” –– a “hopeful sign…as the economy recovers from the pandemic recession.” The drop in unemployment claims follows a March jobs report that blew past expectations.

The Commerce Department also reported today that “U.S. consumer confidence surged in March to the highest level in a year” and the “$1,400 stimulus checks helped March retail sales soar 9.8%.” Earlier this week, a Federal Reserve survey also found that “the economy was rebounding” because of the “new round of stimulus payments and the stepped-up rollout of coronavirus vaccines.”

Reminder: every Senate Democrat voted for the American Rescue Plan, and every GOP senator opposed the legislation that:

  • Delivered $1,400 direct relief checks
  • Ramped up access to vaccines and testing
  • Provided additional local funding to help schools safely reopen
  • Sent critical aid to state and local governments to help keep first responders on the job
  • Extended emergency unemployment insurance
  • Boosted critical small business assistance
