U.S. jobless claims have hit “a post-COVID low” –– a “hopeful sign…as the economy recovers from the pandemic recession.” The drop in unemployment claims follows a March jobs report that blew past expectations.
The Commerce Department also reported today that “U.S. consumer confidence surged in March to the highest level in a year” and the “$1,400 stimulus checks helped March retail sales soar 9.8%.” Earlier this week, a Federal Reserve survey also found that “the economy was rebounding” because of the “new round of stimulus payments and the stepped-up rollout of coronavirus vaccines.”
