DSCC Executive Director Christie Roberts issued the following statement on Senator Richard Burr’s vote against the American Rescue Plan and the North Carolina Senate race:
“Mark Walker and every other Republican candidate who runs to replace Senator Burr in 2022 will be forced to explain why they would side with Mitch McConnell and the politicians in Washington who repeatedly delayed and voted to block this urgently needed relief package, and against the North Carolina families and communities struggling in this pandemic.”
Burr’s vote against the American Rescue Plan comes as more than 11,000 North Carolinians have died, nearly 900,000 have been infected, and thousands more are jobless, have seen their small businesses close, or had their lives upended during this crisis.
