March Jobs Report “Blows Past Expectations” Following American Rescue Plan Passage That Senate Republicans Unanimously Voted Against

Strong Jobs Numbers, Declining Unemployment Rate Demonstrates “Economic Benefit” Of Relief Package Opposed By Every GOP Senator

DSCC spokesperson Stewart Boss released the following statement on the March jobs report that “blows past expectations” and showed the “economic benefit of the American Rescue Plan” that every single Republican Senator voted against:

“This jobs report confirms the American Rescue Plan that every single Republican Senator voted against was exactly what our nation needed to jumpstart a robust economic recovery and get more people back to work. Senate Republicans voted against a commonsense agenda to put money in people’s pockets, expand vaccine access, and rescue our struggling restaurants and small businesses. Americans are now experiencing the tangible benefits of this relief bill and they won’t forget that amid an unprecedented crisis, Democrats provided the resources to rebuild our economy while Republicans obstructed, delayed, and played political games with relief for hardworking families.”

The March jobs report released this morning from the Department of Labor showed “signs of a broader U.S. economic recovery” as “job growth boomed.” The “economic benefit” of the American Rescue Plan is “evident in the strong jobs numbers” and “rising Covid-19 vaccinations and federal stimulus measures” helped “spur a pickup in consumer spending.”

Here’s what top economists are saying about the impressive jobs numbers:

The strong jobs report reflects growing confidence in the economy as Americans’ outlook is “the rosiest they’ve been since the pandemic began…as President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion relief package is distributed across the country.” The American Rescue plan continues to enjoy wide bipartisan support from the public, with over two-thirds of Republicans approving of the law.
