Spineless Senate Republicans Just Confirmed More Anti-Health Care Judges

Mitch McConnell and his spineless majority are nearly through another week of zero action on issues that matter to Americans, like bringing down health care and prescription drug costs, protecting care for 9/11 responders, and preventing cyberattacks on our democracy.

Instead, McConnell and Senate Republicans are “almost entirely focused” on stacking the courts with anti-choice ideologues, laying the foundation for legal attacks on women’s health and rights for decades to come. Meet the rigidly anti-choice, anti-health care, anti-civil rights judges Republicans confirmed this week:

Matthew Kacsmaryk

• Played a “lead role” in lawsuits to make it harder for women to get birth control and emergency contraception
• Railed against Roe v. Wade and attacked abortion rights advocates as “sexual revolutionaries”
• Opposed anti-discrimination protections under the Affordable Care Act and “fought against protections for LGBTQ people in employment, housing and health care”
• Called being transgender a “delusion” and marriage equality “lawlessness” as he argued against the rights of LGBTQ Americans

Allen Winsor

• Defended Florida’s rigid mandatory waiting period law, which courts later overturned as an attack on women’s rights
• Filed a brief opposing women’s access to birth control under the Affordable Care Act
• Argued in defense of Florida’s ban on marriage equality

• Advocated against protecting women’s privacy in their reproductive choices
