The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released a new digital video today, holding Senator Thom Tillis accountable for his “lopsided giveaway” to corporations and the wealthiest Americans. WATCH:
As Senator Tillis celebrates the two-year anniversary of jamming his corporate handout through Congress this week, the new video reveals some of the worst lowlights of the law — including how it allows corporations and billionaires to pay a lower tax rate than working families, drove up taxes for Gold Star families, sent the deficit surging past $1 trillion, and laid the foundation for a lawsuit that could send health care costs soaring and end coverage protections for North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions.
“Senator Tillis admitted there would be ‘some losers’ from his tax scam, but he forgot to tell his constituents that the big winners would be big corporations and wealthy GOP donors,” said DSCC spokesperson Izzi Levy. “Two years later, Tillis is still bragging about his reckless tax handout, even though it’s clearer than ever that it’s left North Carolina workers behind, penalized military families, threatened retirement security, and could still end health care protections for North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions. There’s no denying that Tillis owns this giveaway to the special interests, and North Carolinians will continue to reject his toxic agenda.”
The DSCC has held Senate Republicans accountable for their reckless tax handout all week, highlighting some of the most damaging aspects of this deeply unpopular law — including its unprecedented windfall for corporations and the wealthiest Americans and subsequent surge in corporate stock buybacks, as well as its cruel tax hike for Gold Star families.
