Weekly West Virginia “Battle Royale” Senate Primary Update

Justice’s personal financial disclosure raises questions about his ability to fund his senate campaign, Justice’s helicopter drama continues, and continued attacks over Justice’s financial and workplace scandals: here’s what you might have missed this week in West Virginia’s “messy,” “costly,” and “bruising” GOP primary.

  • Justice’s helicopter scandal continued to escalate after U.S. Marshals were sent to seize a $1.2 million helicopter owned by Justice’s business over a debt of $8.4 million to the owner of a Russian mining company last week. A new court filing accused Justice’s business of attempting to evade the seizure after flight tracker data revealed the helicopter was relocated from Virginia to North Carolina on the same day the court authorized federal marshals to seize it.

  • Mooney attacked Justice for his inability to “keep his own finances in order,” citing a recent report detailing that Justice’s personal financial disclosure “included a long list of assets but showed that many make little to no income” and  “included millions of dollars in liabilities.”
