In a radio interview last week, Senator Cory Gardner claimed he supports protecting health care coverage for Coloradans with pre-existing conditions. His record says otherwise.
Not only has Senator Gardner has voted for every proposal to gut, weaken, or repeal these protections since he’s been in Congress, he complained when health care repeal failed that Republican donors were “furious,” and he has refused to condemn the toxic GOP lawsuit that would spike costs and end coverage protections for Coloradans with pre-existing conditions. And after spending nearly a decade working to tear down the health care law, Gardner still has “no plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions.”
“Senator Gardner has been involved in every reckless GOP effort to drive up health care costs and gut coverage for Coloradans with pre-existing conditions for as long as he’s been in Washington,” said DSCC spokesperson Stewart Boss. “Now that he’s the most vulnerable Republican in the country, Gardner’s trying desperately to change his tune, hoping he can mislead his constituents and paper over his actual record. Coloradans see right through this disingenuous act, and they’ll continue to hold Gardner accountable for his toxic health care record.”
