Unelected Senator McSally Won’t Say If She’d Accept Illegal Campaign Help From a Foreign Country

“Asked whether she ‘would be willing to ask a foreign country to dig up political dirt on your opponent’ … McSally balked”

In a stunning interview, unelected Senator Martha McSally would not say if she would accept foreign assistance in her election, “abruptly” ending the interview. WATCH:

AZ Family: We wanted to ask if you would be willing to ask a foreign country to dig political dirt on your opponent?

Senator McSally: The House is doing what they’re doing. In the meantime, the Senate is doing our work in order to do what matters for Arizonans —

AZ Family: That’s not the question —

Senator McSally: And that includes addressing Alzheimer’s. Thanks, guys.

With a declining approval rating and a self-funding primary challenger dragging her to the right, McSally is among the most vulnerable Republicans in the Senate. She’s been outraised by “significant margins” by combat veteran and retired astronaut Mark Kelly for three quarters in a row, and trails in the polls — making it increasingly likely McSally will become “the first Arizona Republican to lose not one but two Senate seats to Democrats.”

Arizona Family: Sen. McSally won’t say if she’d seek foreign assistance to help her politically

  • The state’s Republican senator left open the possibility on Friday after refusing to answer the question.
  • McSally, a former fighter pilot, walked away from reporters after one question, clearly showing that she did not want to talk about the ongoing impeachment investigation into President Donald Trump.
  • …McSally has remained quiet on the issue, although she signed a resolution condemning the impeachment process.

  • “Of course, my campaign won’t ask for or accept any assistance from a foreign government. That’s an easy decision because it’s against the law, and it’s against the oath Senator McSally and I both took to defend our constitution and our democracy,” Kelly, also a former fighter pilot, said in a statement.
