Congressman Joe Heck, Under Attack For Supporting Government Shutdown, Campaigns With Architect of The Government Shutdown

Congressman Joe Heck has been forced to defend his votes to shut down the government in 2013 and again over Planned Parenthood funding in 2015. At Friday night’s Senate debate, Congressman Heck was grilled by Catherine Cortez Masto for accepting his Congressional salary during the shutdown, even though hundreds of other members of Congress donated their pay.

Now, Congressman Heck’s bringing his support for Washington-style shutdown politics front and center when he campaigns in Nevada today with Senator Ted Cruz – the architect of the 2013 government shutdown.

“Congressman Joe Heck is trying to distract from his awful last two weeks of Trump coverage by campaigning with…Ted Cruz?” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “If there was any doubt that Congressman Heck is nothing more than a Washington politician who puts partisan politics ahead of Nevadans, his campaign swing today with the architect of the government shutdown confirms it. Nevada deserves a Senator who is looking out for them, not one like Congressman Heck who would rather play political games than do what’s best for hard-working Nevada families.”
