With Republicans in Cleveland to rally around Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, the DSCC will highlight that vulnerable Senators and Senate candidates are sharing the stage with Trump whether or not they’ve decided to show up in Cleveland. That’s because they share many of the same dangerous policy positions that Trump promotes that would be devastating to America’s hard-working middle class families. Each day, we’ll spotlight an issue where GOP Senators and candidates stand with Trump.
While the RNC Convention shifts its focus tonight to Trump’s plans to “Make America Work Again,” what will be clear is that if Trump and Pat Toomey got their way, America would simply work just for those at the very top.
Even though Pat Toomey is hiding out in Pennsylvania, he can’t hide from the fact that just like Trump, Toomey supports giving tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations while opposing efforts to raise the federal minimum wage for Pennsylvanians making just $7.25 an hour.
Pat Toomey has voted to protect tax breaks for millionaires and corporate interests like the ones that fund his campaign, all at the expense of hardworking Pennsylvania families. Meanwhile, he voted against increasing the minimum wage despite the fact it would have given a raise to nearly 1.1 million Pennsylvanians.
What’s clear is that if Trump became president, Toomey would be working right alongside him to ensure that tax breaks are protected for those who need it the least while raises are denied to those who need it the most.
“Pat Toomey would be a reliable vote for Donald Trump’s irresponsible policies, including protecting tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations while denying hard working Pennsylvanians a raise,” said DSCC Spokesman Sam Lau. “Pennsylvania families deserve a Senator who will put them and their priorities above campaign donors.”
