This morning on the John Fredericks Show, former President Donald Trump attacked Senator McConnell, calling him “terrible,” “too closely associated with China” and saying he should be removed as GOP Senate Leader:
Trump: “They ought to get themselves a new leader. He’s been there long enough. He’s too closely associated with China. He’s a terrible–in a sense, he’s a terrible politician because he doesn’t get votes…So Mitch McConnell ought to be removed as the leader…So when we talk about the Senate, it’s very important, but they need a new leader.”
In response, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas released the following statement: “We look forward to hearing from GOP Senate candidates if they agree with President Trump’s assessment of McConnell.”
