Ahead of the Republican U.S. Supreme Court hearing oral arguments on a case that could restrict access to mifepristone, a medication abortion pill, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Tommy Garcia issued the following statement:
“Since the Republican Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Republicans have continued to wage an assault on women’s right to make their own health care decisions, and their latest target is medication abortion. On video and on record, Republican Senate candidates have celebrated the overturn of Roe v. Wade which is leading to these new attacks on women’s reproductive freedom. If Republican Senate candidates have their way, they’ve said they’d ban abortion nationwide without exceptions, which means the stakes of the 2024 Senate election have never been higher. Every Republican Senate candidate opposes women’s freedom to make these personal medical decisions for themselves, and in November voters will hold every GOP Senate candidate accountable for their toxic agenda.”
