In response to Senator Ted Cruz voting against a bipartisan plan to avoid a government shutdown, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Amanda Sherman Baity issued the following statement:
“Instead of joining Republicans and Democrats who voted to bolster border security, crack down on fentanyl, and fund other essential programs by keeping the government open, Cruz once again sought to push our country towards a devastating shutdown. Cruz refused to do his job, has made it clear he’ll always put his petty, self-serving politics over what’s best for Texas’ and America’s security, and by doing so he’s given voters in Texas another reason to fire him in November.”
The DSCC previously launched an advertising campaign highlighting how Cruz’s government shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs.
