DSCC Statement On Mehmet Oz

Tonight DSCC spokesperson Patrick Burgwinkle released the following statement tonight on Mehmet Oz: 

“Mehmet Oz is a fraud and a scam artist who will do, say, and sell anything to help himself – no matter who gets hurt. He’s been called out as ‘a quack and a fake and a charlatan’ whose bogus claims ‘endanger patients.’ He is a different, more dangerous kind of Republican: he wants to make abortion illegal and has pushed Donald Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 election. A self-serving millionaire with no real connection to the Commonwealth, Pennsylvania voters will send him back to Hollywood in November.”

This week the DSCC released a new digital video, “Showtime,” highlighting how Oz has no place representing Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate.

• Mehmet Oz is a fraud and a “scam artist” who will do, say and sell anything to help himself – no matter who gets hurt. He’s been called out as “a quack and a fake and a charlatan” whose bogus claims “endanger patients.” He got rich pushing “quack treatments” and snake oil cures on his TV show – he’ll do anything to make a buck or get himself ahead.

• Mehmet Oz is a more dangerous kind of Republican who is out of step with Pennsylvania voters. Oz praised the Supreme Court’s recent decision overturning Roe v. Wade saying “The Court is right. Roe was wrongly decided,” and even supported Trump’s Big Lie, stating “‘we cannot move on’ from the 2020 election.”

• Mehmet Oz is an out of state millionaire. Mehmet Oz is a longtime resident of New Jersey and has no real connection to Pennsylvania or the Commonwealth’s values. Even after he claimed he moved to Pennsylvania, his social media showed him living at his New Jersey mansion.
